Place Description
Looking Glass Creek

rises in N Transylvania County E of Bennett Gap on the Haywood-Transylvania county line and flows S into Davidson River. Located in Pisgah National Forest.

Looking Glass Falls

N Transylvania County on Looking Glass Creek about ½ mi. upstream from its mouth on Davidson River. The falls are 85 ft. high. Located in Pisgah National Forest.

Looking Glass Rock

N Transylvania County on the SE end of Seniard Ridge in Pisgah National Forest. Named because the huge rock face of the mountain glistens like a giant mirror.

Lookoff Gap

SE Buncombe County near Flat Top in the Swannanoa Mountains.

Lookout Bight

a bay in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean formed by the S end of Shackleford and Core Banks in SE Carteret County in connection with a stone breakwater started before World War I but never completed.

the S tip of Cedar Island extending into the waters of Core Sound in NE Carteret County.

Lookout Shoals Lake

on Catawba River, bounded by Iredell and Alexander Counties on the N and Catawba County on the s. Formed by a dam constructed in 1915 by Duke Power Co. Covers 1,270 acres. Source of hydroelectric power; fishing, boating, and camping. See also Island Ford.
