Harkers Island Township

on Back Sound, The Straits, and the Atlantic Ocean in S Carteret County. Believed to have been home of Manteo, the Indian who befriended the Roanoke colonists, 1587.

community in W Wilkes County on South Prong Lewis Fork Creek. Named for Harley Thompson, nineteenth-century resident.

Harley Branch

rises in E Haywood County and flows SW into East Fork Pigeon River.

community in N central Carteret County on Harlowe Creek.

Harlowe Canal

Harlowe Creek

rises in central Carteret County and flows S into Newport River. A canal connects the creek with Clubfoot Creek, affording a waterway from Neuse River to Newport River.

Harlowe Township

on Newport River and Core Creek, N central Carteret County; formed from a part of Newport Township in 1917.

Harm Creek

rises in E Henderson County and flows E into Polk County, where it enters Brights Creek.
