Smathers View Mountain

extends E from Thompson Knob, which see, to Peggy Peak in SW Buncombe County.

Smethport

community in central Ashe County. Named for the town in Pennsylvania from which a local tanning extract plant had moved.

Smileys Falls

S Harnett County in Cape Fear River at the mouth of Upper Little River. A succession of ledges of rock there drops the water from 6 to 18 inches in most cases, but there is one fall of 4 ft. and another of 5 ft. Mentioned in Fulton's survey of North Carolina rivers in 1819.
