community in W Lenoir County. Named for the Swedish singer (1820-87), who, according to local legend, once sang beneath a tree there.

community in S Caswell County. A post office operated there, 1904-17.

Jericho Run

rises in E Lenoir County and flows NE into Stonyton Creek. The name appears in local records as early as the 1740s.

Jerome

community in NW Bladen County.

Jerome Bog

a pocosin on the Bladen-Cumberland county line E of the community of Jerome. An almost perfect elliptical shape with its long axis running NW-SE, it is an ancient lake now filled with peat. See also Carolina Bays.
